Next, Mary Buckner, Career Specialist from Inglemoor High School shared her tips for Tech Prep Success:
- According to results from our recent data collection project, Inglemoor High School (and Northshore School District) do a stellar job of transitioning Tech Prep students into the four community and technical colleges in our consortium! Mary detailed how Northshore excels at providing a strong and integrated message of support for the Tech Prep program. Mary’s PowerPoint presentation is now available (handout is available here, Powerpoint is coming soon!).
Then came the main event: Engineering 101
- Lake Washington Technical College faculty member, Ken Brown, provided an educational and entertaining overview of the broad field of Engineering. Ken debunked many of the myths and preconceived notions surrounding Engineering. He also provided insight into strategies the faculty at LWTC have developed to support and encourage student success. LWSD conducts a weekly overview of their Engineering program: Wednesdays at 10am in room E-228 or by appointment.
- Both of Ken’s PowerPoint presentations are available here:
- Joyce Fagal, the University of Washington Engineering advisor located at Shoreline Community College, presented information about SCC’s programs and also outlined the process for transferring into the engineering field from a two year college.
- Our employer and student panel was very well received. A special thank you to all who participated.
